Great read, Clapp. I agree with pretty much all of it. This team has been playing like horse**** for a while now, but they've managed to hang in there. Everyone, aside from the rotation, has been underperforming. However, these guys seem to be coming around, and they definitely have their best baseball ahead of them.

I'm not even an optimist Zoner. The Brewers have played about as well as they can, the Cubs have played about as bad as they can, and they're just 2.5 games out. I've been as frustrated as anybody, but about 80% of the team has played below their career averages. If you really don't believe at least some of them are going to play much better as the year goes on, you're not facing reality.

I'm not sure I can say I feel great about where we are right now, I expected to be in first place by now for sure. But its June, we are only 2.5 games out, we are slowly getting healthy. We are going to be just fine.

Considering the injuries and how terrible some guys have played early on, I'm pretty happy with where we are.

I appreciate the optimism, but this year has been awful to watch as a fan. Their best baseball is likely yet to come. Until then a sour taste will remain in my mouth. This seems like 1985 all over again.
